People who will go missing today in the UK and never be found: 5
I think that over time our concern to try and be statistically / scientifically robust has moved us away from the more theatrical / poetic elements that used to inhabit the show. On the Today program (BBC Radio 4) I heard a statistic for people reported missing in the UK each year. Knowing that some people may be reported missing more than once per year we divide this number by 365 to make it more robust so maybe we can get away with “who will” rather than “Went missing last year”. The follow up stat is, of course, very upsetting.
