Secretaries General Of The United Nations (Ever): 7

Ban Ki-moon from The Republic Of Korea (South Korea) has recently been appointed the next Secretary General (he takes up post on 1st January 2007). It’s difficult to work out how important ‘The World’s Top Diplomat’ is but I’m interested by the fact that the post is voted for by the whole world (almost & kind of).

For the record they are/have been:
Trygve Lie (Norway), Dag Hammarskjöld (Sweden), U Thant (Myanmar), Kurt Waldheim (Austria), Javier Perez de Cuellar (Peru), Boutros Boutros-Ghali (India), Kofi Annan (Ghana).
